dSSA were asked to test the provision of ten apartments on this suburban site for an Approved Housing Body.  The proposal is formulated around a south facing courtyard set behind and existing house, a landmark in the village.

 

A protected and sheltered environment informed by village backland courtyard typologies is proposed.  The design strategy capitalises on existing site features creating a specific and unique place which feels welcoming and familiar.
