Prof. Mary McCarron

Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences - Trinity College Dublin

Mícheál de Siún was project architect on a ground-breaking dementia care building project where principles of person centred care and a strengths based approach underpinned all aspects of the design. Willow View, and Meadow View Specialist Dementia Homes have been extremely well received in the dementia care arena by staff, academic peers and by the residents now living here. The homes won ‘Specialist Care Centre of the Year’ and ‘Building project of the year’ in the Irish Healthcare Centre Awards 2014 and are the subject of an academic publication: Achieving Quality Environments for Person Centred Dementia Care. Mícheál’s input was extremely valuable ensuring the seamless integration of the highest building and energy efficiency standards while proving adept at engaging with the requirements of the client, the staff, and the service users, and resolving a building form and spaces that reflected the cutting-edge ambition behind the project. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mícheál as an architect to any prospective client.
